Experiences with Hair Extensions?

Who has had good or bad experience with hair extensions?.. (any kind of extensions) .. I am just wondering because I glued mine myself and turned out bad and now I had to get a short hair cut and I have bald spots b/c I didn't know you were suppose to melt the glue to take the extensions out..

the hair salon people say it happens a lot.. Is that true?

Experiences with Hair Extensions?

I have had good and bad experiences!! I'm going through a bad one right now because i think i am allergic to the synthetic hair!! But i have learned that it is better to sew in weave, but make sure it's done professionally. If you can't and you want to just glue it in, make sure that you get hair glue remover from a beauty supply store so that it will slide off easier!!

Experiences with Hair Extensions?

I have done many types of extensions and have worn several types. I have never had a problem other than a glue in type I had done on myself for a Halloween party. Hair extensions are a major service that requires maintenance, proper care and proper removal. Most people have no idea what time and cost is involved. I had beautiful hand tied done several years ago that I wore for three months while my shorter hair was growing out. I have never had a client have a problem, but then again I was doing the work, not the client.

Experiences with Hair Extensions?

That has never happened to me, but I know a bunch of people who have experienced what you have.

Personally, I've never used glue to put in extensions. I braid my hair first, then I sew in the tracks. And even though people tell me to go to a stylist, I do mine just as good, if not better, and I know how much hair to use, how many braids to put in, which design the braid should go in (circle or straight back), etc.

I don't really wear extensions any more though. I wore them all the time in high school, because I could go from short to long, black to red, straight to wavy, etc, in about 3-4 hrs. Now, I only wear them to change up my hair, and to protect my real hair, since I like to experiment with different lengths and colors.

Experiences with Hair Extensions?

Experience is the key. I have been doing extensions since 1989. I specialize in extensions and non-surgical hair replacement. When put in properly and maintained you should have no problems with your natural hair.

What I don't understand is how most people are smart enough to realize they don't want to try to color, perm, or hi-lite their own hair but it seems lately everyone thinks they too can put in their own extensions. If the salon people are saying it happens a lot maybe they mean there are a lot of idiots out there who make the same mistakes you have. Most stylist don't offer extensions because it requires additional and expensive training, patience, and lots of practice.

Want them done right without risk of going bald? Don't do it yourself. One more thing... Clip in extensions slide down the hair shaft stripping the cuticle and make weak spots in your hair. So if you don't want to make it worse stay away from these.

I have clients who fly in from all over for extensions. Want them done right? Come see me or go to a trained professional.
