Why do you want to cut her hair? If its matted then yes, a uniform cut all over will let you start with a fresh coat. But that breed is meant to have a long coat, I know it sounds strange, but they can regulate their temperature with their type of coat and its meant to keep them cool. Cutting it if you don't want to care for the long hair can mess with her body's ability to regulate her temperature. So, the short answer to your question, yes, her hair will grow back.

During the "off" season, he has them sheared down to look like something that ran off the pages of "The Cat in the Hat."

Doesn't matter if they're matted or not, he cuts it all off.

So, yes, it all grows back ... just in time for their seasonal shows.

Yes in about 8-10 weeks you'll notice a difference. Please let a pro clip it though. they have the best equiptment to do it.

Yes the hair will grow back but don't cut it too short. Small dogs tend to get cold easily and Maltese have very sensitive skin. Another thing to know is that dogs can get sunburned just like people. I would leave the hair at least one inch long. If you do have the dogs hair cut short, it's not going to look very nice. Maltese have the type of hair that doesn't look good when it's cut short. Definately have a groomer do it because of the sensitive skin. If you don't know what you're doing then you can accidentally hurt your dog and I know you don't want that to happen.

Hair grows back, regardless of breed. Some types of hair take longer to grow than others (guard hairs take longer to grow out than undercoat, for example) ... if you had a German Shepherd dog, for example, the shiny topcoat (guard hairs) would grow back, but it might take months or years. Maltese hair grows back fairly quickly and uniformly, so I would not be concerned.

If the hair does NOT grow back, then you're dealing with a medical issue and need to see your vet about it.
